Dane Patterson Vs. The New You (2005)

“This piece is a collaborative effort between myself and the Boston/NYC based quartet The New You. In December of 2005 I asked each of the four members to individually record solo drum tracks in their Boston studio. Each recording was to be between one and two minutes and played in any manner the musician wished. The resulting four recorded drum tracks were comprised predominantly of staggered and stuttering rhythms, as some members of the group had little drum experience. These tracks were then embellished by musical compositions which I composed and played corresponding to the unaltered rhythmic structures each drummer designated.” -Dane Patterson
